SMART Program Outreach

SMART (Students Making Awesome Robotic Technology) is a robotics-curriculum-based weekly class open to 20 eighth graders from the local community. Students will develop engineering skills and practice building a robot under mentor guidance.

The curriculum is based upon what the Mills Robotics Team uses to train new members. Students will learn basic skills from each department, which include programming, electronics, construction, and public relations/business.

Upon finishing this program, students will have a strong foundation in robotics. Furthermore, students will also have improved skills of critical thinking and collaborating with others.

Students eligible to apply to SMART must be in eighth grade and attending school in Millbrae, Burlingame, or San Bruno.

Class Dates – Attendance to each session is mandatory. Classes will be held in the Mills High School Makerspace from 1 – 3 PM.

Please note that no prior experience is needed. Our application decision will be based off of the student’s interest in robotics, enthusiasm for learning, and skills in teamwork.
